Yanks Split Doubleheader
The Yankees split their doubleheader yesterday with the Phillies dropping the first by a score of 11-7 and rebounded in the second game by a score of 3-1. JA Happ continues to stink which shocks no one at all. The Yanks tried to stage a late comeback with a 7th inning Aaron Judge 3-run blast but it was to no avail as the Yankees came up short. A bullpen day in game 2 worked out well as the Yanks kept the Phillie bats at bay. After a Voit home run early the Yanks bats came up clutch in the seventh inning behind a Tauchman RBI double and Urshela RBI single. The Yanks look to take the series here in game 4 with Jordan Montgomery on the bump vs Zach Eflin making his 2020 debut.
Gleyber, Gary, and Andujar continue to scuffle in this young season. It is truly crazy to think the Yankees are winning so many games while getting very little production out of these three middle of the order bats. I think I would have similar advice to all of them, that being to work the ball to right field. All three get shifted on and I think most right-handed batters in the MLB are at their best when they hit the ball to all fields.
The Yankees bullpen continues to be a strength as it has been lead by Green, Ottavino, and Britton. I think going forward in these split 7 inning double headers it is almost a must that they use one game as a bullpen game. They have a deadly collection of arms out in that 'pen.
Previewing tonight, Montgomery has had one solid start so far in 2020 going 5 2/3 allowing one run. If Montgomery keeps the ball low and mixes in all his pitches I think he will fare well versus the Phillies lineup. On the other side of the field, we had Zach Eflin who has essentially been a decent 3 or 4 starter for the Phils rotation the past few years. I like the Yankees in this game (as I do in most games). Give me, oh I don't know, Yankees 5-2.
I have been getting some requests for more picks and I appreciate that because I have fun making them. Todays picks could be placed as a parlay or just three seperate picks.
